Camp Cherith in the Carolinas

Camp Cherith in the Carolinas is the camping ministry of Pioneer Clubs offering camp to campers from a large area in the middle southeastern United States. We have campers from Georgia, Mississippi, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia but anyone is invited to come. You do not need to be a club member to come to our camp. Our staff are comprised of volunteers. Many are parents of campers, past campers, or students. We try to maintain a low camper to staff ratio. The main goal of the camp is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where campers can experience the outdoors and learn about Christ. They are encouraged to live a Christian life everyday. An American Camping Association accredited camp, and a member of Christian Camping International. Established 1984. Session: one week. Campers include: boys and girls that are 2nd to 11th grade graduates.

A small camp for 140 boys emphasizing outdoor adventure in a non-competitive atmosphere. Campers choose their own schedule and then build skills to increase self confidence. High Rocks is a place for fun and learning, for challenge and adventure, and for living in an environment that is geared to a camper's needs and interests. Aided by a well-trained staff we seek to teach and to inspire lasting skills and values. We offer ongoing opportunities for success, a freedom from inhibiting competitive pressure, and daily instruction in activities which promote rapid development of skills, an increased self-esteem, and a sense of community.

Our summer camps for boys activities include: Rock climbing, lake and whitewater canoeing, mountain biking, horseback, backpacking, and many more traditional camp activities. Our 1,000 acre facility adjoins a 6,000 acre state forest and is near Pisgah National Forest. Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of the western Carolinas, within a one-hour's drive from Greenville, South Carolina, and Asheville, NC.

Camp Burnt Gin

A Special Camp for Special Children

drawing of kidsCamp Burnt Gin is a summer camp in Wedgefield, South Carolina, for children who have physical disabilities and chronic illnesses. From early June until mid August, Camp Burnt Gin operates five, seven day sessions for 7 through 15 year old children and two six day session for teenagers.

During the course of a session, campers have the chance to participate in a variety of programs such as instructional and recreational swimming, boating, fishing, arts and crafts, sports and games, fine arts and nature study. Each cabin group has the opportunity to enjoy an overnight camping trip in which they sleep in the woods and cook their meals over a campfire .

Staff members, in a ratio of one for every two campers, live with the children and assist those children who require help with their personal needs and participation in the activities. Camp Burnt Gin has two nurses in residence and a physician on call for specialized medical care. Balanced meals and special diets are planned by a registered dietician

Camp Burnt Gin provides a fun, safe summer camp experience to over 460 children who might not otherwise have the chance to attend camp because of their special health care needs. The Burnt Gin experience offers them an opportunity to meet new friends, develop recreational skills, become more independent and improve their self confidence.
